IMPORTANT NOTICES:

The relevant visa procedure starts once all the necessary visa application documents are accepted by the Consular Section of the Embassy. Incomplete visa application dossiers are not accepted. 

All multiple entry visas inquiries should be sent directly by the Azerbaijani inviting party to the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan for the relevant authorization procedure.

The Consular Section reserves a right to require any additional documents that it considers to be necessary for visa application procedure;

No assurances regarding the issuance of visas can be given in advance. Therefore, the purchase of non-refundable tickets should not be made before visa approval is granted.

 

Visa fee rates

The fee for the Member States of the European Union, with the exception of theKingdomofDenmark, theRepublicofIrelandand theUnited Kingdom, is 35 euro.

The fee for a transit visa is 20 USD.

 

Payment methods:  

Bank transfer. No cash or credit cards accepted.  All visa fees must be paid in Euros. 

All bank transaction fees (currency conversion and etc.) should be paid by the visa applicant, otherwise visa application cannot be processed. For exact currency exchange rate information, please contact the Consular Section of the Embassy.

Types of visa

1. Entry visa;

  • A single- entry visa allows only one entry-exit to the country within this period.
  • A multiple entry visa is valid for 2 years. This visa type allows a person to enter and exit the country several times within relevant period.
  • A period of staying in the country is limited by a validity period of a visa. A visa becomes invalid if it is not used during its validity period.

2. Transit visa;

  • A single-entry and a double-entry transit visas are issued to foreigners and stateless persons who pass through theRepublicofAzerbaijanto a destination outsideAzerbaijan. Validity period of a transit visa is 30 days, while staying period in the country is 5 days. Transit visas are granted on the basis of circumstances of a particular transit itinerary, use of air, water, railway and other types of transport means and for a necessary period of time. 

Applying for a visa


Please proceed for the visa application online (evisa.mfa.gov.az).

General required documents

1) One completed the online visa application form.

2) Original + photocopy of a valid national passport:

  • its validity date must be at least three months beyond the duration of the visa applied for;
  • it has to contain at least two blank pages.

3) Two (2) biometric3 cmx4 cmcoloured photos with a white background, taken within the last 6 months. Visa application will not be accepted if the photo is not correct as required.

4) Non-Greek citizens should present Greek residence permit.

5) Copy of the flight reservation.

6) Receipt of the payment / bank transaction statement. 

Required documents shall be accompanied with the following documents which vary according to the type of visit

Official visit:

  • Diplomatic Note of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of theHellenicRepublic, diplomatic representations and international organizations;
  • Note: According to the bilateral interstate agreements, for the holders of diplomatic and official (service) passports, mutual visa-free regime is applied between the Republicof Azerbaijanand the countries, listed here.

Business visit:


  • Letter of invitation from a business counterpart inAzerbaijan(signed and stamped) indicating personal information, purpose of the trip and the duration of applicant's intended stay inAzerbaijan.
  • The copy of Registration Certificate of the inviting company attesting the registration of the company by relevant authority of theRepublicofAzerbaijan.
  • Certificate of employer/educational organization (signed and stamped) indicating personal information, applicant's position, purpose of the trip and coverage of expenses.

Private visit (visiting family or friends):

 

  • Letter of Invitation (sample invitation form) submitted by the citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan along with copy of the identity card of inviting person. The letter must contain the full name (name and surname) of invited person, entry date of the visitor to the Republic of Azerbaijan and visitor’s passport details. Both invitation and copy of identity card must be certified by notary in the Republic of Azerbaijan;
  • Certificate of employer/educational organization (signed and stamped) indicating personal information, applicant's position, purpose of the trip and coverage of expenses.

Transit visit:


  • Certificate of employer/educational organization (signed and stamped) indicating personal information, applicant's position, purpose of the trip and coverage of expenses;
  • Valid entry visa (if needed) to a country of the main destination.

Tourist visit:


  • To apply for a tourist visa applicant must present a hotel reservation. Reservation paper must be signed and stamped by the hotel management. Unofficial correspondence (e.g. e-mail messages etc.) with the hotel will not be accepted;
  • Certificate of employer/educational organization (signed and stamped) indicating personal information, applicant's position, purpose of the trip and coverage of expenses.

E-visas issued to tourists:


Tourists coming to theRepublicofAzerbaijancan obtain an e-visa via a tourist agency. In order to obtain an e-visa, foreigners can apply directly to a tourist agency accredited by an appropriate authority of theRepublicofAzerbaijanor through partners of that agency in his/her country. A travel agency accredited in the Republic of Azerbaijan fills in an e-visa application in an internet information server of an appropriate authority, attaches scanned copies of a tourist’s passport, his/her photograph, documents (a tourist voucher, a passenger ticket or a hotel, camping, tourist base voucher) proving the touristic purpose of the trip. Documents are processed within maximum 10 days after they have been received, then a visa is issued and sent to an e-mail address of the travel agency. In case of rejection of visa issuance relevantly justified information is provided.

A state fee in an amount defined by legislation is paid for issuance of e-visa.

A printed version of an e-visa is not attached to a passport, but is submitted along with a passport by a tourist at a state border crossing-point. Notes on entry and exit of a person are made in his/her passport and visa when he/she passes through a border crossing-point.

Norms of accreditation of tourist agencies that operate in the Republic of Azerbaijan and authorized to use e-visas are established by the appropriate authority of the executive power (The Ministry of Culture and Tourism) of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The list of tourist companies engaged in the issuance of e-visas (through internet) for foreigners coming to the Republic of Azerbaijan as tourists.

 

2017 Formula 1 Gran-Prix of Azerbaijan

In accordance with the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, No. 2702 dated 02.03.2017, on simplifying visa issuance prosedures for foreigners and stateless persons arriving in the Republic of Azerbaijan related to the organization and conduct of 2017 Formula 1 Gran-Prix of Azerbaijan, visas will be issued at the structural units of Consular Departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan located at the international airports of the Republic of Azerbaijan between May 15-July 15, 2017. Basic documents for visa issuance are as follows:

          1. The card or another document approving accreditation in accordance with relevant rules of “Formula One Management Limited”Company and International Automobile Federation, the international organizers of Formula 1 races;

          2. The card approving accreditation at the Baku City Circuit Operations Company.

Meanwhile, foreigners and stateless persons arriving in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2017 Formula 1 Gran-Prix of Azerbaijan (Only 81 countries - on the list of approved countries according to the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No.923, dated June 01, 2016 on establishing “ASAN Visa” system) will be able to get electronic visa through “ASAN Visa” system.

IV Islamic Solidarity Games

 - According to the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 2703, dated 02.03.2017 on several actions in regards with the organization and conduct of the IV Islamic Solidarity Games, the appropriately accredited foreigners and stateless persons may go to and from the Republic of Azerbaijan without a visa based on a passport or other travel documents and the accreditation card from April 1 until July 1, 2017.

 - During the organization and conduct of the IV Islamic Solidarity Games the working permit is not required for the appropriately accredited foreigners and stateless persons involved to the labor activities in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Changes in the procedures of getting entry visas by foreign citizens and stateless persons upon arrival in the Republic of Azerbaijan

According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 326 dated September 13, 2010, foreign citizens and stateless persons upon their arrival in the Republic of Azerbaijan can get entry visas in the visa sections in the international airports of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the following cases:

1. Inthe cases envisaged in the interstate and intergovernmental treaties of theRepublicofAzerbaijan;

2. Persons visiting the Republic of Azerbaijan by the official invitation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Prime-Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of the Administrative Department of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of Special Medical Service of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of the Supreme Majlis (Parliament) of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic;

3. Persons visiting the Republic of Azerbaijan by the official invitation of the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan, General Prosecutor of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan, heads of the central executive bodies of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman (Governor) of the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan, management of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of Caucasus Muslim Department, heads of the foreign companies operating in the Republic of Azerbaijan in accordance with international treaties supported by the Republic of Azerbaijan agreed with the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan;

4. Members of the diplomatic, administrative and technical staff of the foreign diplomatic missions, consulates, and offices of the international organizations in the Republic of Azerbaijan and their family members, as well as foreign citizens visiting the Republic of Azerbaijan with special diplomatic missions;

5. Persons visiting the Republic of Azerbaijan by the official invitation of the Ministry of Emergencies of the Republic of Azerbaijan to participate in the operations to eliminate the consequences of emergency situations;

6. Persons visiting theRepublicofAzerbaijandue to his/her deceased family member, on the basis of the relevant documents certifying the death.

7. Visiting foreign citizens of those countries having direct air connection with theRepublicofAzerbaijanand to which diplomatic mission or consulate of theRepublicofAzerbaijanare not accredited.
