History will be made at the Olympic Stadium on 12 June, Friday evening, with an unforgettable show
Anticipation is at fever pitch in Baku ahead of the inaugural European Games. The wait is nearly over, and Baku’s Olympic Stadium is ready to celebrate the culture and history of this vibrant city with a once-in-a-lifetime showcase of entertainment and sport.
Tickets have sold out, but viewers in Baku and across the world will be able to enjoy the Opening Ceremony live on Baku2015.com and YouTube at 9pm Baku time on Friday, preceded by live coverage of the big day from midday Baku time on the site and across social media.
The ramp-up to the Opening Ceremony will include a live blog, tweets and posts of the excitement building throughout the Azerbaijani capital. Exclusive behind-the-scenes clips will be revealed, and a 10-minute highlights package will be made available minutes after the end of the event.
The show will be a celebration of traditional Azerbaijani culture, reflecting the host city’s role in modern Europe. Directed by Dimitris Papaioannou, a cast of over 2,000 will create an unmissable, magical experience.
