Official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic Mr. Dimitris Avramopoulos to Baku
On April 29-30 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic Mr. Dimitris Avramopoulos paid an official visit to Baku, the Republic of Azerbaijan. During the visit he was received by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev, Prime-Minister Mr. Arthur Rasi-zade, Ministers of Foreign Affairs Mr. Elmar Mammadyarov and Culture and Tourism Mr. Abulfas Garayev.
During these meetings, both sides discussed wide range of issues of common interest in the field of bilateral relations and cooperation within the framework of international organizations, including UN, NATO, OSCE and EU, especially with the focus on the upcoming Greek European Union Presidency that will start on January 1st of next year.
Azerbaijani side expressed its strong interest to expand further relations with Greece in all spheres of mutual interest, starting from trade, energy sector and investments and covering also culture and tourism, science and education. Two sides also agreed on strengthening political dialogue on high level and in this context the Hellenic side extended invitations for the President, the Prime-Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan to pay official visits to the Hellenic Republic.
In the framework of the visit, Foreign Minister D. Avramopoulos also visited Baku Slavic University where he got acquainted with the activities of the Center of the modern Greek language and culture and met with the students studying Greek language (on the photo).
This visit and its results were considered by both parties as yet another important step in the process of expanding multifaceted Azerbaijani-Hellenic relations which are now at a very high level and are constantly improving.
