IMPORTANT NOTICES:

The relevant visa procedure starts once all the necessary visa application documents are accepted by the Consular Section of the Embassy. Incomplete visa application dossiers are not accepted. 

All multiple entry visas inquiries should be sent directly by the Azerbaijani inviting party to the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan for the relevant authorization procedure.

In accordance with national legislation and international agreements to which the Republic of Azerbaijan is a party, the Consular Section of the Embassy reserves the right to consider visa applications in certain cases as long as it feels necessary. Visa can be denied if the authorities have reasons to believe that an applicant's entry into or stay in Azerbaijan will not be desirable.

The reimbursement of the payment for different reasons may be carried out only within the month of the execution of the payment. 

No assurances regarding the issuance of visas can be given in advance. Therefore, the purchase of non-refundable tickets should not be made before visa approval is granted.

Facilitation of the visa issuing procedures on the base of the agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Azerbaijan

 

 

Types of visa

  1. Entry visa;
  • A single- entry visa allows only one entry-exit to the country within this period.
  • A multiple entry visa is valid up to 5 years. This visa type allows a person to enter and exit the country several times within relevant period.
  • A period of staying in the country is limited by a validity period of a visa. A visa becomes invalid if it is not used during its validity period.

 

  1. Transit visa;
  • A single-entry and a double-entry transit visas are issued to foreigners and stateless persons who pass through the Republic of Azerbaijan to a destination outside Azerbaijan. Validity period of a transit visa is 30 days, while staying period in the country is 5 days. Transit visas are granted on the basis of circumstances of a particular transit itinerary, use of air, water, railway and other types of transport means and for a necessary period of time.

IMPORTANT: All the fields of the application form must be filled out carefully, not missing any information. Incomplete application forms will be returned without processing and may result in denial of your application. 

2) Completed petition form (transit, touristic, official and private visits are exempted):

  • The petition form (sample of petition form) should be sent directly by the Azerbaijani inviting party to the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan for the approval procedure;
  • After the approval, copy of the the above-mentioned petition form should be submitted with the other required documents to the Embassy.

3) Original and copy of a valid national passport:

  • Its validity date must be at least three months beyond the duration of the visa applied for;
  • It has to contain at least two blank pages.

4) 2 biometric 3 cm x 4 cm colored photos:

  • Photos must be taken within the last 6 months to reflect the current appearance.
  • Photos must be full face and white background.

5) Medical insurance for the period of stay.

6) Non-Greek citizens should present Greek residence permit (Albanian citizens are exempted).

7) Copy of the flight reservation.

8) Receipt of the payment / bank transaction statement. 

  • Visa fee for Greek citizens is 35 Euros: For other nationalities see  here.
  • No cash or credit cards accepted. All visa fees must be paid in Euros.
  • All bank transaction fees (currency conversion and etc.) should be paid by the visa applicant, otherwise visa application cannot be processed. For exact currency exchange rate information, please contact the Consular Section of the Embassy

Official visit:

  • Diplomatic Note of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic/Republic of Albania, diplomatic representations and international organizations.

 

Business visit:

  • Letter of invitation from a business counterpart in Azerbaijan (signed and stamped) indicating personal information, purpose of the trip and the duration of applicant's intended stay in Azerbaijan.
  • The copy of Registration Certificate of the inviting company attesting the registration of the company by relevant authority of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
  • Certificate of employer/educational organization (signed and stamped) indicating personal information, applicant's position, purpose of the trip and coverage of expenses.

 

 

Private visit (visiting family or friends):

  • Letter of Invitation (sample invitation form) submitted by the citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan along with copy of the identity card of inviting person. The letter must contain the full name (name and surname) of invited person, entry date of the visitor to the Republic of Azerbaijan and visitor’s passport details. Both invitation and copy of identity card must be certified by notary in the Republic of Azerbaijan;
  • Certificate of employer/educational organization (signed and stamped) indicating personal information, applicant's position, purpose of the trip and coverage of expenses.

 

Transit visit: 

  • Certificate of employer/educational organization (signed and stamped) indicating personal information, applicant's position, purpose of the trip and coverage of expenses;
  • Valid entry visa (if needed) to a country of the main destination.

 

Tourist visit: 

  • To apply for a tourist visa applicant must present a hotel reservation. Reservation paper must be signed and stamped by the hotel management. Unofficial correspondence (e.g. e-mail messages etc.) with the hotel will not be accepted;
  • Certificate of employer/educational organization (signed and stamped) indicating personal information, applicant's position, purpose of the trip and coverage of expenses.
  • For tourists, it is now also possible to obtain electronic tourist visa. In order to get such visas issues, tourists should apply to one of the authorized travel agencies in Azerbaijan. 

 

Changes in the procedures of getting entry visas by foreign citizens and stateless persons upon arrival in the Republic of Azerbaijan

According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 326 dated September 13, 2010, foreign citizens and stateless persons upon their arrival in the Republic of Azerbaijan can get entry visas in the visa sections in the international airports of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the following cases:

  1. In the cases envisaged in the interstate and intergovernmental treaties of the Republic of Azerbaijan;

  2. Persons visiting the Republic of Azerbaijan by the official invitation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Prime-Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of the Administrative Department of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of Special Medical Service of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of the Supreme Majlis (Parliament) of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic;

  3. Persons visiting the Republic of Azerbaijan by the official invitation of the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan, General Prosecutor of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan, heads of the central executive bodies of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman (Governor) of the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan, management of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of Caucasus Muslim Department, heads of the foreign companies operating in the Republic of Azerbaijan in accordance with international treaties supported by the Republic of Azerbaijan agreed with the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan;

  4. Members of the diplomatic, administrative and technical staff of the foreign diplomatic missions, consulates, and offices of the international organizations in the Republic of Azerbaijan and their family members, as well as foreign citizens visiting the Republic of Azerbaijan with special diplomatic missions;

  5. Persons visiting the Republic of Azerbaijan by the official invitation of the Ministry of Emergencies of the Republic of Azerbaijan to participate in the operations to eliminate the consequences of emergency situations;

  6. Persons visiting the Republic of Azerbaijan due to his/her deceased family member, on the basis of the relevant documents certifying the death.Visiting foreign citizens of those countries having direct air connection with the Republic of Azerbaijan and to which diplomatic mission or consulate of the Republic of Azerbaijan are not accredited.

Information on changes in the process of issuing visas at the international airports of the Republic of Azerbaijan in accordance with the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated on January 31, 2018, # 1803 “On improvement of the process of issuing visas to the foreigners and stateless persons at the international airports of the Republic of Azerbaijan”  

Starting May 15, 2018 the issuance of visas to the foreigners and stateless persons at the international airports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in cases defined in the laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan, legal acts of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and interstate and intergovernmental agreements of the Republic of Azerbaijan will be fulfilled electronically through the “ASAN Visa” system.

The issuance of the visas at the international airports of the Republic of Azerbaijan through “ASAN Visa” system, as well as the processing of all payment related to visas via “ASAN payment” system will be provided by the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
